Three fatalities occurred and a minimum of nine individuals got hurt in Ukraine's latest attack on the border territory of Russia of Belgorod, according to local officials.

The fatalities occurred following a strike on the village of Maslova Pristan in the early hours of Wednesday, authorities reported. First responders were persisting in looking for people suspected to be buried under wreckage.

For the third day in a row that Ukraine has struck the region, leaving thousands of people experiencing blackouts and a minimum of two more persons dead.

Series of Attacks Cause Damage

Wednesday's series of drone and missile attacks damaged homes, transportation and electrical infrastructure in multiple districts of Belgorod, as reported by official statements.

Authorities shared images from the village revealing a sports centre with its roof and walls destroyed, and said that rescue workers were removing wreckage and examining the harm.

In the close-by settlement of Moshchenoye, six individuals - involving a young person - sustained injuries when an aerial projectile and unmanned aircraft targeted transportation, while a man was hurt when a vehicle was targeted in Masychevo.

Electrical Failures Impact Numerous

These attacks come after multiple days of identical assaults that have caused blackouts and building harm in the city of Belgorod and adjacent territories.

Approximately forty thousand people were affected by power cuts across seven municipalities, according to government sources.

Wider Situation of Hostilities

Ukraine has dramatically increased the quantity of strikes targeting Russia's fuel processing facilities in the past few months, sparking fuel shortages and price rises in various areas of Russia.

A minimum of 21 of the nation's key petroleum plants - at locations transforming oil into usable fuel like gasoline and diesel fuel - have been targeted this year, substantially exceeding as during the whole of 2024.
